2002 ALA Member/Vendor Golf Outing Recap
Forty-four Golfers, Over Four Hundred Dollars for Charity. Eleven foursomes on September 12th, the excitement of golf by Ryder Cup hopefuls, a new Buick waiting to be driven away on number eight, skill prizes, great door prizes, beverages, lunch, beverages, dinner, beverages, laughter and stories (some true), the Columbus Chapter did it right. Golf outing with a purpose -- fun, relaxation and dollars for the Chapter Charity. Community Service Chairperson Trina Multon oversaw the mulligan sales and raffle tickets with over $400 collected for Ronald McDonald House and Angelman Syndrome Foundation charities.
Lagusch, Hapanowicz, Dupuis and Miller. Say it fast, say it slow, either way, it's first place. No one could catch this team of Alex Lagusch, Jon Hapanowicz, Linda Dupuis and guest Brett Miller. This was the Columbus Bar Association (Alex) and Taylor Resources (Jon) sponsored team. Somewhat overlooked by the pre-match prognosticators, they kept nailing their shots and putting the ball in the hole. Well done -- eight under par.
Mustard Covers Second Place. Charlie, did you leave one shot out there you wish to hit again? Probably so. Captain Charlie Mustard, sponsor Bill Weiss (Fiber Seal), Chris Monahan and Trina Multon were just one measly shot back at seven under par. Fine show.
Tie Breaker for Third. As last year, third place was decided by a tie breaking formula between two teams in at six under. The winner was Bowne Business Solutions with playing sponsor John Goudy (Bowne), "the Pres" Lori Muetzel, Captain Eric Martin, and the notorious Jack "Beaver Pelt" Green. Also at sixty-six, six under, but edged out of third place by the system, was the DOPCO (Tom Rice), Project Lawyers (Jay Canowitz) team with Donna Gilles and Jack Stroud. Good golf.
Got Away from Hannaway. As is apparent, Janet Hannaway's team didn't win. Normally, this is not a story, but since this is the first time, this reporter thinks something needs to be written. Janet didn't win. Janet didn't win.
Hit it long and Tell a Story. Did he say it was all about the vendors? Rob Sanders hit it long on number six for the long drive award, then told an animated story to win the best story prize. Roger Yeley's good story didn't win a prize, but Roger made the longest putt on eighteen. Don't expect to get it closer to the pin than DOPCO's Tom Rice and CBA's Lagusch without hitting it tight. They took the closest to the in on four and twelve, respectively. So what about the most coveted prize, the Jack Green Beaver Pelt? Stand aside previous winners, this year it went to Paul McGuire of Bowne Business Solutions.
Say Cheese, Work Hard, Keep Smiling. I noticed the photographers, hole-in-one sitters, and beverage cart drivers smiled more and more as the day progressed? Hard work is fun, when others benefit. Thank you. No lulls this year, the beverage cart (my favorite part of the event) seemed to be right there when I needed a lift or needed to lift one. Cart folks Kim Rankin and Cerie Barouh of Project Lawyers and Tiphany Edington (DOPCO), thanks. Photographers (and hole sitters) Randy Headley and Kim Eisner (Baker & Hostetler), great job again, great pictures. And Kim Eisner, Randy Headley, Cindy Juvinall, Teresa Shuler, and Kathy Wiesman, thank you for hanging out for us at your par threes.
